The challenge

Defense work is a core part of this manufacturer’s business, and CMMC Level 2 makes cybersecurity a condition of keeping it. Leadership needed more than a set of policies on a shelf. They needed a security program that runs across every site, holds up to an assessor, and keeps pace as the business adopts new technology.

What we did

We fully manage the company’s IT infrastructure and support, and we built and run its CMMC Level 2 program on top of it. Because the same team operates the systems and the controls, compliance is part of how the business works every day.

  • Defined and documented the environment. We mapped where sensitive defense information lives and who can reach it, then built the System Security Plan, policies, and evidence an assessor expects to see.
  • Moved the administrative team to a new building. We planned and delivered the IT for the company’s move from its main plant into a new standalone facility, bringing the new site into the same security and compliance program from day one.
  • Prepared leadership to respond. We wrote the incident response plan and walked the leadership team through a live tabletop exercise, so decisions are made before a real incident forces them.
  • Kept security current. Strong authentication, recurring access reviews, and regular compliance meetings with leadership keep the program accurate as people, sites, and systems change.
  • Brought AI under governance. When AI tools appeared in operations, we set clear guardrails, so the company can use new technology without putting its contracts at risk.

The result

  • One accountable partner for IT operations, security, and compliance, so nothing falls between providers when an assessor or an incident tests the program.
  • A partnership of more than seven years, with the compliance program maturing alongside the business, from the first policies to a fully documented, actively managed program.
  • One security standard applied consistently across every site and state.
  • A clear path for adopting AI and other new tools while protecting defense revenue.
